چکیده

This presentation reports work being done at SICS on novel interface techniques to large projection environments intended for multi-user applications. We have been exploring the notion of “naturalness” as it relates to interfaces. In this presentation we attempt to define this notion of naturalness and provide some reasons why the interaction media we present here meets that definition. We are striving for devices that are compelling while at the same time are powerful and less encumbering than the standard desktop tools.

Overview and Assessment of Unity Toolkits for Cave Automatic Virtual Environments and Wand Interaction

As the interest in Virtual Reality (VR) increases, so does the number of software toolkits available for various VR applications. Given that more games are being made with the Unity game engine than any other game technology, several of these toolkits are developed to be directly imported into Unity. A feature and interaction comparison of the toolkits is needed by Unity developers to properly ...

A Study of Influential Factors on Effective Closely-Coupled Collaboration based on Single User Perceptions

The need for collaboration and cooperation across a distance is becoming equal to that between a co-located team. This means that cooperative working must be supported by systems that allow natural social human communication and interaction. A goal of telecollaboration is to reproduce the effectiveness of co-located teamwork across a distributed team. Although many of today’s systems support co...

A.C.T.I.V.E.: A scalable superellipsoid-based CFD visualization for virtual and desktop environments

The paper presents a flexible software (A.C.T.I.V.E.) able to visualize the superellipsoidal glyphs describing the orientation of short fibres during the dynamic process of casting a short fibre reinforced composite in a container. The software is designed to run on the VRUI framework and it features an optional face-tracking to grant a more natural interaction also on standard non-3D displays....

Tangible User Interface for CAVE based on Augmented Reality Technique

This thesis presents a new 3-dimensional (3D) user interface system for a Cave Automated Virtual Environment (CAVE) application, based on Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Tangible User Interface (TUI). We explore fundamental 3D interaction tasks with our user interface for the CAVE system. User interface (UI) is comprised of a specific set of components, including input/output ...

A CAVE Based 3D Immersive Interactive City with Gesture Interface

3D city models have greatly changed the way we interact with geographic information. However, both the visualization and interaction are limited on conventional 2D displays. This paper presents a system that visualizes 3D cities and supports gesture interaction in a fully immersive Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE). The proposed system utilizes gestures to control navigation, selection,...
